What is it? This is a test taken either on a treadmill, or with your bike on a trainer, that measures the maximum amount of oxygen that an athlete can use during intense exercise. The more oxygen you can use, the more energy you can produce.
Why do I need one? To train efficiently and effectively. Your actual VO2 number is only a small piece of the knowledge you gain from a VO2 Max test. The really important information is the accurate establishment of heart rate and power training zones. No matter what your fitness level, training at the right intensity is the key to producing the results you desire with minimum risk of injury. With a VO2 Max test, we can accurately determine the proper intensities at which you should be training to meet your goals.
